21 Things for iPads - Thing 18

Study Skills and Visual Thinking

Study Skills Artifact

My family loves Quizlet!! We've been using it for three years now to study spelling words and vocabulary. I previously used it in my Young Fives classroom for students who were struggling to learn their sight words, however I have not allowed my third graders to use it yet. My class, while very sweet, struggle to understand what "fair" means. I created a social studies list of terrms, hoping that my few who are having a difficult time learning words will be able to study them in Quizlet.

Mind Mapping Artifact

I would love to use Popplet in my classroom for my students to do brainstorming, planning for their writing, organizing their materials/new learning. My biggest issue, with most of these apps, I only have one iPad and by the time I get around to everyone having a turn to create their project it takes 2 to 3 weeks. I do understand their is a computer option, but we only have computer access one day a week for 40 minutes, and most the time it does not correspond with our writing units.
