21 Things 4 iPads - Thing 8

Comic and Book Creation

Comic Creation Artifact

This was a very easy to use app. However it was difficult to come up with pictures that fit into the size requirements given by layouts. It would be nice to have photo editing capabilities within the app.
I could use this app to:
1. Create posters for the classroom to display TLW or Anchor charts.
2. Allow students to create comics of their knowledge of a subject (parts of a plant for science; steps a bill goes through to be passed for social studies; parts of speech for writing, etc.)
3. Students could use the app to develop a comic and then allow a partner to write a story based on the comic.

Book Creation Artifact

This was an enjoyable app to use. I started to create a different book, unfortunately the app wouldn't allow me to delete the other book, so I had to purchase the full version to complete this assignment. I was a bit irritated that I couldn't just delete and start over. However now that I've used the app, I'm pleased that I have the capability to create unlimited books for my classroom.

I created a book to go with our next writing assignment to share with my students. Hopefully this will be another option that students can choose to use to be more creative with their final writings. I am again running into the issue of only having one iPad for 19 students to use and the amount of time it would take to allow every child to create a project to share with the class. I recently came across a grant that might allow me to purchase more iPads, should I receive it.
